Dohnányi’s Serenade for String Trio anchors this afternoon of chamber music. Dohnányi’s musical voice was distinctive and his compositions are now regarded as outstanding examples of late Romanticism, though largely free of the Hungarian folk music influences found in his contemporary compatriots. Also on the program is Boccherini’s String Trio # 1, Op. 47.
