The ACO String Quartet focuses on Schubert’s masterful “Death and Maiden” quartet. Written after Schubert fell ill. Confronted by death, he mined his own song (Death and the Maiden) written years earlier for material. The quartet is filled with pathos, startling beauty, and bristling energy.
