David Amado & Leonid Sigal Talk Masterworks I

Maestro David Amado and Guest Artist, Leonid Sigal, sat down over Zoom to discuss the upcoming Masterworks I concert which features beautiful pieces by Bernstein, Korngold, and Dvořák. Leonid will be performing on the violin in Korngold’s Violin Concerto. While discussing the role he gets to play in the concert, Leonid mused “it’s just so rewarding and gratifying to be able to kind of step into the slightly different role [and to perform] with your colleagues, who are incredibly supportive too!” he continued that it “creates this kind of energy that is unique and so professionally and artistically satisfying.”

Maestro Amado, who is excited for the upcoming lineup of compositions, also touched on the fact that the Orchestra has the opportunity to perform 4 times in a row and added that “One of the things that’s so remarkable about the [Atlantic Classical Orchestra]…is that we play one program all these times. It’s so rare …. that an orchestra has an opportunity to do something like that, [and] it’s incredibly rewarding.”

While discussing what to expect from the Concerto, both David and Lenny touched on the signature sound of Korngold’s compositions; Amado proclaimed that “the language is so Hollywood, so awesome, and so beautiful!” And Leonid’s take on the piece was that “listening to it and working on it…it really started to come to light on how gorgeous all the elements are to it” adding also that “[Korngold] really created that [movie] sound!”
