Overview

In a sea of traditional chamber music, there are occasional atolls of unusual instrumentation. Mozart’s Oboe Quartet is one of the first—a jewel of invention and charm. Written for his friend, the virtuoso oboist Friedrich Ramm, the piece was designed to showcase both Ramm’s dazzling technique and the expressive range of the newest, most advanced oboe.
