The Wild West

January 11 -12, 2024

Overview

Saddle up for the ACO’s 34th season with favorites from the concert hall and the silver screen. Soundtracks from classic westerns mingle with music about cowboys and trail rides. From the Lone Ranger to a pack mule’s reluctant descent into the Grand Canyon; and from Still’s portraits of the American landscape and Copland’s iconic Hoe Down (“Beef: It’s what’s for dinner”) to Elmer Bernstein’s classic score for The Magnificent Seven, our opening concert celebrates a storied chapter of the American experience with evocative, vibrant scores from some of our finest home-grown composers.
